To make table or wall art, a whole tree trunk is cut into vertical pieces; however, in doing so, special care is taken to preserve the outer form of the tree trunk. Molten metal is poured at around 1600 Fahrenheit onto wood, then liquid metal penetrates the cavity or crack of wood. On contact, the hot liquid sears the wood creating a burnt-black layer of charcoal between the two elements, the negative factor of burnt wood is transformed into aesthetics.
